Description
Eegyvudluk Ragee
(1920–1980)
Eegyvudluk Ragee was an Inuit artist from Baker Lake (Qamani’tuaq), Nunavut, whose drawings and prints helped define the distinctive graphic style of the Baker Lake art movement. Working primarily in drawing, Ragee created lively narrative scenes of Inuit life on the land, often filled with hunters, animals, camp life, and moments of community activity. His compositions are recognized for their energetic line, dense storytelling, and animated figures that move across the picture surface. As one of the early contributors to the Baker Lake print program, Ragee’s work played an important role in shaping the visual language of Inuit graphic art in the central Arctic. Today his drawings and prints are widely collected and held in major museum collections.
