From Dorset Fine Arts

In celebration of Shuvinai Ashoona’s 2024 Governor General’s Artistic Achievement Award, Dorset Fine Arts is pleased to present Going Between Worlds, a collection of ten editions of hand-coloured etchings.

These ten plates were drawn by Shuvinai and expertly etched by longstanding Kinngait Studios partner, Studio PM. Once printed, Shuvinai rendered each image in rich watercolour, resulting in a series of 100 unique prints.

Collated into ten editions of ten prints each, this special print release showcases the breadth of Shuvinai’s signature imagery. From the elevation of the everyday in Holding Onto Baby Kamiks, to the fascination of otherworldly creatures in Octopus From a Strange Town, Shuvinai continually demonstrates the ability to infuse every scene with wonder and reverence.

For over two decades, Shuvinai has contributed her singular vision to the world of contemporary art, both nationally and internationally. She has previously been awarded the Gershon Iskowitz Prize, as well as a Special Mention by the jury of the 59th International Biennale di Venezia.
