Fun Facts About Muskox
Historically, muskox were an important subsistence animal in regions where they were present:
- Meat provided food during long winters
- Hides were used for clothing and bedding
- Qiviut (the soft underwool) is among the warmest natural fibers in the world and remains highly valued
While not as universally hunted as caribou or seal, muskox represent reliability in harsh inland environments.
Muskox are Ice Age survivors, predating many Arctic species – the embodiment of endurance through environmental extremes.
