it is hard for me to separate
kingmeata etidlooie from the 1980’s
and the 1980’s from kingmeata etidlooie.
from her arrival in cape dorset
in the mid-60’s through the 1970’s
she produced incredible work.
but it was her work from the ‘80’s
that i’m most drawn to.
it’s the colors
no doubt.
rich in the ‘80’s pastels.
but it’s also the seemingly
simplistic compositions.
minimal and strong.
bold in their understatement.
we are excited to have this selection
of fierce drawings in our space.
alongside the amazing sculpture
of lucy tasseor tutsweetok and
mary tutsuitok –
it surely will be hard to top.
